Little People of America

Meet Glory.

My story began before I was born, when my parents found out I was going to be born with dwarfism. They were presented with the option of aborting the pregnancy, which they chose not to do and I am happy to say I was born on May 26, 1990. I come from a Puerto Rican background and am the only little person in my family. My parents & siblings are all average height.

Growing up as a little person was incredibly difficult. I hated the unwanted attention just because I was little. Strangers would take pictures of me without even asking. I was mistreated & abused. My mother wasn’t very supportive when I was growing up. Now she sees the woman I’m becoming and is excited to see me graduate college. I had many challenges in school, especially high school. My own family told me that I would never graduate, that I should just drop out of school and that I would never amount to anything. Their negativity fueled me to prove them wrong and made me determined to get my High School diploma. Though it was a struggle and took me serval times, I am proud that I passed the state tests and graduated on May 2010 in Kissimmee, Florida.

After graduation I moved to New York, where I lived in a shelter. While there, I met a woman who became my spiritual mother in Christ and my best friend. She took me under her wing and introduced me to her church where I gave my life to Christ. Ever since that day, my life has changed. In 2013 I started to embrace myself as a little person.
